Luca Rosetti and Matteo Sericano Cross the Finish Line in 4 Days, 14 Hours, 10 Minutes, and 32 Seconds
It was the fastest Class 40 race ever on Leg 1 of Les Sables Horta, and it was our Luca Rosetti, with co-skipper Matteo Sericano, who crossed the finish line first, winning the race and beating the previous record by 18 hours.
Our guys showed their strength right from the start with a spectacular departure, rounding the first mark in first place. The tactical choice was to defend the southern sector of the race fiercely. This choice proved to be winning and shows the great personality of Luca and Matteo. Especially on long distances, such radical choices are often rewarded at the end of the course, and that’s exactly what happened. The excitement is huge!

Luca: “In fact, this was our real debut with Macaferri Futura. We believed in it from the very first minute and defended our choice until the end. Some moments in the first half of the race were complex because the tracking showed us far from the leading group and slower, so we had to resist even the psychological stress. Then, finally the wind we hoped for came in, and we started closing the distance faster and faster until we crossed ahead of the leading group just a few miles from the finish. From there on we controlled in Match Race style until the finish.”
After this great satisfaction, Luca and Matteo will immediately get back to work to prepare for the return leg, where Luca will sail solo.
