A great achievement at the Rolex Fastnet

The 100th edition of the historic regatta has come to an end.

A great result for Maccaferri Futura, which finished sixth among the 24 Class 40 boats competing.

This was an unusual race for our circuit, as there was no limit on the number of crew members on board, unlike our usual solo or double-handed format. It was also a great opportunity to understand all the features of our Futura better, thanks to the presence on board of Edoardo Bianchi, CEO of Sangiorgio Marine, who built our Musa. Joining Edoardo and skipper Luca Rosetti were Matteo Sericano (co-skipper) and Yaël Poupon (Boat Captain).

“A great result in such a legendary race,” said skipper Luca Rosetti. “After a tough first leg upwind to the iconic Fastnet Rock, where we battled in the middle of the fleet, we managed to pick up speed after rounding the lighthouse and climbed steadily into the top ten, eventually finishing sixth. The boat proved to be reliable and incredibly fast, and we’re very happy with the performance. But above all, this was an extremely valuable test to refine every manoeuvre ahead of the key event of the season: the Transat.”

With this, the first series of debut regattas wraps up for our team, who have already collected some impressive results, most notably, the record-breaking victory in LSH Leg 1. All this despite having had very little time to familiarise themselves with the new boat, launched only a few months ago. This first phase has also served as vital training for the upcoming challenge: Luca and Matteo’s first full ocean crossing during the Transat Café l’Or, from Le Havre to Martinique, at the end of October.

Maccaferri Futura is now back at our base in Lorient, where, after a short break and maintenance period, sea and shore training will resume.
