The Boat

IL CLASS 40

Maccaferri Futura is ready to cross the Atlantic

The Class40 is one of the most competitive classes in offshore sailing: an international circuit that brings together ambitious skippers and cutting-edge boats.
Competing means facing top-level races, putting resilience, strategy, and technological innovation to the test.

In this context comes Futura: the Musa designed by Gianluca Guelfi and Fabio D’Angeli, and built by Sangiorgio Marine.

A boat that marks a true innovation leap for Italian sailing, bringing Made in Italy craftsmanship to the world’s most demanding ocean routes.

THE PROJECT

THE FUTURA PROJECT

Futura is the beating heart of an initiative that goes far beyond sport. Skipper Luca Rosetti’s boat, developed in collaboration with Maccaferri, is the first chapter of a journey driven by sustainability and innovation.

This project was born from a desire to merge adventure and exploration, turning sailing into a powerful platform for sharing fundamental values:

environmental sustainability

technological innovation

research & development

performance

Beyond racing results, Futura is a storytelling platform that frames sailing as a full-scope experience, one that inspires new generations and raises awareness for a cleaner, more accessible ocean.

SUSTAINABILITY ON BOARD

ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS IS AT THE CORE OF THE PROJECT

Sustainability is not just a choice, it’s the course we’ve set. Innovation and responsibility converge to reduce environmental impact and reshape how we build, compete, and care for our planet.

Sustainable materials

The boat’s hull and sails are made using natural fibers and bio-resins, drastically reducing environmental impact without compromising racing performance.

Innovative construction techniques

New-generation materials, and forward-thinking construction methods are redefining industry standards, paving the way for more responsible and innovative yachting.

Efficiency & technology

The use of 3D printing helps optimize production, minimize waste, and enhance design efficiency and customization.

An approach that proves how technology and sustainability can go hand in hand, giving rise to pioneering boats without losing sight of respect for the ocean.
